Festival of Photography / Travelling exhibition - a new friend

Recently the Canon travelling exhibition visited Hobart. It was a chance to see the National Gold Award and category winning images from the Australian Professional Photography Awards as well as a display of the Tasmanian Professional Photography Awards’, award winning images. A fantastic exhibition that tours the country every year. You should check out its calendar and try to get to it if it visits your capital city.

Tasmania’s Festival of Photography was also held a couple of weeks ago. A number of photographers including Richard Syme, Phil Kuruvita and Darren Jew all offered up their knowledge and shared their images to a captivated audience. As this event was open to the public, it was great to see a variety of attendees.

Darren Jew is a nature photographer based in Queensland. Whilst in town for the Conference, I talked him into extending his stay so I could show him a bit of Tasmania. We spent most of the following week diving at the Tasman Peninsula. Always amazing, some of my images can be found here. We forged a great friendship and I think we may even have a project underway – more information on this in the New Year!

My first iPhone App!

I have done it - I have launched my first iPhone App.

It's part of a long term project and just a stepping stone towards a much more comprehensive application I have in the pipeline. Australian Wildlife is an App for the iPhone that introduces children (or adults) to the sights and sounds of Australian wildlife. It also contains fascinating facts and can be used as an educational tool.
