a quick trip to the west

Recently I took a couple of days off to undertake a whirlwind visit to Tasmania’s west coast.
I will try to record some elements of the trip in my next blog. For now, just a couple of panoramic image highlights.

Tasmania's North-East

I recently decided to head to Tasmania’s North-East for a couple of days away.

This is a remote pocket of Tasmania (mostly because of the unsealed roads and how this can increase the travel time between locations). As a result most places have little or no people! Ideal for photography.

The colours of Tarn Shelf

Once a year in Tasmania, our only deciduous native tree - the beech - sheds its leaves. Before doing this (and for just a couple of days) these leaves change from green to yellow to a beautiful gold. This is known as 'the turning of the Fagus'.

In Oahu (Hawaii) there were only a couple of places where I was able to easily (and successfully) pursue my underwater photography passion.

the Routeburn Track - New Zealand

The Routebourn track is an alpine track found on the South Island of New Zealand. This walk can be undertaken in a number of ways from self catering camping/hiking to a guided walk (accommodation and food provided). For the first time in my photography life I took what I considered the easy (if not a little more expensive!) option.

Dunes in the Forest

Situated on the West Coast of Tasmania, approximately 20 minutes north of Strahan is the Henty Dune Day use area. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

A big COFE for Cystic Fibrosis

A good friend of mine is embarking on a fund and awareness raising project for Cystic Fibrosis. He is undertaking what has been named the Cystic Fibrosis Orient Express (COFE).
