If this email looks strange - you can view a web version here It's about time #I know you have had to wait a couple of weeks more than usual for this newsletter but as you will soon find out, I have been absolutely flat out. It’s been a busy but very rewarding couple of months. I have made some new businesses, some new products and even some new friends! I won’t hold you up any further, here is what I have been up to.

More Info A new direction #Since going into business as a landscape photographer I have been constantly surprised at the amount of people who have asked me to capture their weddings, birthday parties and family portraiture. I used to make my excuses, stating that as a landscape photographer I did not enjoy photographing people. So it was with surprise that earlier this year I decided to test the waters and undertake some family environmental portraiture. Guess what? I absolutely loved it and so did my clients! Word of mouth has been responsible for how busy I have been during the last few months, I have been photographing people!

At this point I must apologise to all the people I fobbed off over the past 5 years with excuses as to why I could not take their images – SORRY!

Not only have I enjoyed photographing people but I have also enjoyed creating the images, the slideshows and the ‘hot off the press’ hard cover single edition coffee table books (replacing the traditional photo albums). It’s very different to landscape, different equipment and a very different mindset. I can’t believe how much fun it is and how long it has taken me to realise this!

More InfoTas Waterbabies #Never doing things by halves, I have taken the concept of photographing people to the next level – underwater portraiture!

Offered as a party plan or as individual sittings (or ‘swimmings’), Tas Waterbabies is a chance to capture images like no other. A totally unique experience with amazing results.

Hosting a party is FREE, and the host even receives a 16 by 24 inch stretched canvas (of their image choice) for taking the time to organise the party. It’s lots of fun and with one party under our belt and two parties in the diary already, I know how popular this concept is going to be.

More InfoAnnual photography event / Travelling exhibition - a new friend #Recently the Canon travelling exhibition visited Hobart. It was a chance to see the National Gold Award and category winning images from the Australian Professional Photography Awards as well as a display of the Tasmanian Professional Photography Awards’, award winning images. A fantastic exhibition that tours the country every year. You should check out its calendar and try to get to it if it visits your capital city.

Tasmania’s Anual photography event was also held a couple of weeks ago. A number of photographers including Richard Syme, Phil Kuruvita and Darren Jew all offered up their knowledge and shared their images to a captivated audience. As this event was open to the public, it was great to see a variety of attendees.

Darren Jew is a nature photographer based in Queensland. Whilst in town for the Conference, I talked him into extending his stay so I could show him a bit of Tasmania. We spent most of the following week diving at the Tasman Peninsula. Always amazing, some of my images can be found here. We forged a great friendship and I think we may even have a project underway – more information on this in the New Year!

More InfoThe Signature Edition #For this summer I have released a new product. I call it the ‘signature edition’.

A4 or A3 in size these beautiful archival printed images are presented with a caption and signature. They are surrounded by white space and look stunning in any standard size frame.

The range can be found on the website here.

They are in all of my usual retail outlets and are proving very popular.
More InfoThe end of another year! # The website has undergone a few subtle changes – It is now possible to make credit card transactions on the site. I have a secure certificate to allow this. It just makes purchases that much easier. The website has been very popular during the last couple of months and I’ve a suspicion that there are lots of Christmas presents being organised!

Don’t forget that by subscribing to this newsletter you are entitled to a discount for the online store – if you have lost your discount voucher – send me an email and I will get one to you.

I could write loads more, it’s truly been such a busy time, but think I will wait for next year. On a personal note, I managed to get my parents to move to Tasmania a few months back – YAY! Just got to work on my sister, nephew and a few other friends now!

Thanks again for your support. Your interest in my work and images enables me to do what I do – and I love doing it.

Have a happy and safe Christmas and let’s all have a fantastic New Year – I think it’s going to be a big one!!

Thanks again

Ian
