Colours of Tarn Shelf

Once a year in Tasmania, our only deciduous native tree - the beech - sheds its leaves. Before doing this (and for just a couple of days) these leaves change from green to yellow to a beautiful gold. This is known as 'the turning of the Fagus'. On ANZAC weekend (Australian Public Holiday) my good friend Alan and I (Yep the guy from the book!) made our way to Tarn Shelf for our annual pilgrimage to the Fagus.

Canon APPA

Between May 4 - 6 the AIPP judged entries for the Canon Australia Professional Photographer of the Year Awards 2007. Arguably the most prestegious Australian photography awards. This was my first entry at the Canon APPA so I was undistandably anxious and excited (also due to the fact that i was just about to leave for my trip to Hawaii!)
It was an amazing experiece and I would strongly urge anyone interested in photograpy to attend the judging simply to see some amazing images and hear professional and experienced opinion.
As for my images, I was ectremely pleased to have three of my four images recieve awards, Two silvers and a silver with distinction!

Tasmania's North-East

I recently decided to head to Tasmania’s North-East for a couple of days away. This is a remote pocket of Tasmania (mostly because of the unsealed roads and how this can increase the travel time between locations). As a result most places have little or no people! Ideal for photography.

Southern Exposure 2007

Interested in photography? You should think about attending the biggest ever Tasmanian photographic conference in September 2007. As a member of the AIPP I am excited to help organise this event, and I can promise you it is going to be amazing. We have booked out the Cradle Mountain Chateau and there are only a handful of rooms available.

new website launch

Tuesday the 1st of May saw the release of a ‘new-feel’ ‘Ian Wallace Gallery’ Website. Over the past few years many users of the website have been kind enough to provide me with feedback about the usability of my little bit of cyberspace, this has brought about various overhauls and incarnations of my site.
In almost 5 years, this is overhaul 4 (and the biggest yet – although you would be forgiven in thinking that nothing has changed!) Most of the changes are in the ‘backend’ of the site – or simply put, the way it works. There are many new and exciting features of the ‘new-feel’ site.
